SMC 'Guardian' provides safety and security for mobile and fixed assets
Providing GPS-based tracking over radio, the SMC Guardian is a tough yet compact unit which comes in both permanently mounted and self-contained portable versions. Suitable for using with either an existing voice or data radio communication system or as a self-contained stand-alone unit, it provides a comprehensive and reliable solution for the utmost in security and safety. The SMC Guardian is currently in use by police and airport authorities as well as government establishments throughout the world.
Using proven yet stare-of-the-art technology, as well as providing GPS-based indications of location and movement the system can be used to monitor a number of on/off digital and analogue inputs such as fuel level, power status, alarms etc. Remotely controlled outputs are also available for operation of various facilities of the asset being tracked.

The PC control unit at the base control location employs 'SNAP’ and 'ATLAS’ software for efficient error-free communication and gives a geographic display using openly-available imagery including MS Virtual Earth and OpenStreetMap.
As the system is not reliant upon cellphone coverage it can be used in locations and environments which otherwise would be impossible. A significant advantage is that when normal communication infrastructure is no longer available due to cellphone congestion, power outage or natural disaster, the 'Guardian’ continues to operate in tracking and protecting your fixed or mobile assets. A belt-clip version is also available for the unit to be easily carried and used by personnel for personal tracking and protection.
Technical features includes a 65 channel GPS receiver, standard NMEA 0183 Version 3.01, excellent tracking sensitivity of -158dBm, internal memory to store up to 60,000 data points, bidirectional IO ports for alarm input and output control, and an internal battery for power backup.
